Quantic releases their much anticipated video game, Heavy Rain, this week for the PS3. Heavy Rain is billed as a thriller and is attempting to capture a drama movie feel in a video game. The game is about a man, Ethan Mars, whose child has gone missing and has possibly been murdered by the Origami Murderer. And so, accordingly the game is spent trying to find his son and do whatever it takes to find out what has happened. From what I have seen and read the game does a great job in immersing the player in the game and creating a bond for the characters in the game. Every action has a consequence, no matter how big or small, and there are many actions that can be taken from brushing your teeth to killing off a main character. There have been a few technical issues that have arisen and the movement seems to be somewhat clunky, but for the most part the very interactive and absorbing story and gameplay makeup for the technical issues. Apparently the game is rather short, totaling around 10 hours of gameplay, and doesn't have much replayability, so it seems this might be a better game to rent than buy. Quantic appears to have made a big step forward for interactive story-telling in games and has delivered a strong video game.
